One
of the characteristics of
Mathematics is has an abstract object which might cause a lot of difficulties for students to
learn it. The real difficulty basically arises due to the
lack of students' understanding
of mathematical concepts. Likewise the learning about percentages which is regarded
as an abstract material for many students. Mostly in Indonesia, percentage is
taught only as another notation for fraction or decimals without involving
students’ real experience.
Furthermore, to know the students'
understanding
of the percentage in grade VA MIN 2
Model Palembang, Indonesia, the author interviewed and tested some
percentage questions to the representative student. Here they are:
